Archive Digitisation

Micro Image has a proven track record of ensuring the highest quality digitisation. Our highly experienced operators are trained in the appropriate handling of fragile, historic paper, printed and photographic material and we ensure that each and every item is expertly captured. We cater for fragile and degraded pieces, large format and varied media including slides, negatives and photographs. We are currently digitising rare colonial records (pre-Federation). We work with government, libraries, museums, galleries, schools, hospitals and organisations to digitise important historical archives.

In July 2021 the Australian Government announced an $67.7 million over four years to fund the National Archives’ Defend the Past, Protect the Future Program. Micro Image is the official digitisation partner for this project. To support this partnership, we have created a state-of-the-art digitisation hub in Canberra for the mass digital preservation of critical at-risk material. This project will ensure the national archival collection is digitally preserved and available online to all Australians, regardless of where they live. Discover more here.
